About Us
About the "Nelsons"
Our facility’s name was Nelson’s School of Swimming, later known as Nelson’s School of Swimming and Fitness Facility and Poolside Health and Wellness Center. It housed a learn-to-swim program, a swim team, an Outpatient Therapy business (Water Way Therapy), and an adult fitness program. They also developed water exercise programs for individuals with special needs.
Their vision started at dinner on the way home from participating in the 1972 Olympic Trials. They were tired but still excited about the Olympic Trials experience. On the way home, they stopped for dinner at a rib place in Joliet, Illinois.
